SIL International

Language Assessment Team Leader, Africa Area

About

I became a member of SIL International in 2000 and received my initial training at the Graduate Institute of Applied Linguistics (GIAL) in 2000-2001. My first field assignment was in Ethiopia, where I was a member of the language survey team from 2001-2007, assuming leadership of the team in 2002. After the SIL Ethiopia survey project came to a close, I moved back to the U.S. and returned to GIAL in the spring of 2008 in order to complete an MA in language development. Having graduated in June 2009, I began to prepare for a new assignment in southern Africa. I am now based out of Johannesburg, South Africa, conducting sociolinguistic research in Angola as well as other southern African nations.
